Is Interim Management Right For Me
Interim management can be an excellent career choice; however, it is not for everyone. Before taking the step into interim management it is important that you consider a number of criteria
| Location | Our aim is to find you work as close to home as possible. However, given the nature of this industry, work can be in other areas of the UK/Europe and because we look to put the best matched people into each engagement, there is a possibility your work could be away from home.. |
| Financial stability | There is never a right time to become an interim manager; there is also never a wrong time. If you have financial commitments such as a large mortgage, family commitments, the risk will be higher than if you are in a financially secure position. Don’t let this put you off though, if you are confident in your abilities you will be a success. |
| Day rate | Interim Management is perceived to be highly lucrative. Admittedly day rates are higher but this is balanced out with the need to work at a higher intensity, potentially longer hours and remembering you have to take care of your own tax, NI payments etc. The daily rate should not be your main driver. |
| Responsibilities | If your main driver is being part of a team / organisation, bear in mind being an Interim Manager can be a lonely place. Sometimes you have to make tough unpopular decisions which may not please everyone, but if your role is to deliver you must look at the bigger picture which is the best for the business. A key driver to interim management however is having the luxury of not having to get too involved in company politics, |
